Joan L. (Becker) Turner
July 23, 1934 – May 3, 2025

Our sister in faith, Joan L. (Becker) Turner, 90, a member of First United Church of Christ of Hamburg, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at the Mifflin Center where she resided.

Born in Hamburg, Joan was the daughter of the late Walter and Ethel (Casper) Becker.

Those left to treasure Joan’s memory are her children: Mary-Jo Shaw (Michael), Pierce Turner (Mona), and Grant Turner (Margaret “Peggy”); her 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren; as well as her sister, Sharon. She was predeceased by her sisters: Barbara, Anna, Ethel, and Margaret; as well as her grandson, Brandon.

Joan began working as a seamstress at the former Diener Knitting Mills, and eventually became a Supervisor before retiring. She was an active member of the First United Church of Christ in Hamburg, and was in the choir, as well as a Past Matron of the Eastern Star. She also enjoyed knitting, and spending time with her family.

The Funeral Service for Joan will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 10:00AM at Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc, 40 South Fourth Street, Hamburg, PA 19526, with burial to follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Dr. Benjamin Motz officiating. Friends and family may gather from 9:00AM until the beginning of the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joan’s honor to First United Church of Christ at 73 South 3rd Street, Hamburg, PA 19526. Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. is honored to serve Joan’s family. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
