Remembering Elsie Rothenberger

In Loving Memory

Elsie J. (Reis) Rothenberger

June 29, 1933 – December 28, 2025

Our sister in faith, Elsie J. Rothenberger, 92, a member of First United Church of Christ in Hamburg, formerly of Leesport, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025 in the Laurel Center. She was predeceased by her husbands: Samuel A. Buckley and Lee L. Rothenberger.

Born in Fleetwood, she was the daughter of the late Elwood D. and Viola G. (Oswald) Reis.

Elsie is survived by her children: Samuel A. Buckley, husband of Julie, Reading; Michael H. Adams, husband of Cynthia, Hamburg; and Barry D. Adams, companion of Terri George, Hamburg; five grandchildren: Dustin T. Adams, Amber L. Adams, Adam C. Buckley, Derrike T. Buckley, and Brock M. Adams; and three great-grandchildren: Jalyssa Roberts, Damion Adams and Dilynn Adams. She was predeceased by two sisters: Betty Lou Dietrich and Lillian Adams.

Elsie worked as a cleaning lady for twenty-two and a half years at the M&T Bank. Elsie was a member of First United Church of Christ, Hamburg. She was also a member of the Shoemakersville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Elsie enjoyed reading, playing bingo, and was an avid Phillies fan.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reading, with the Rev. Dr. Benjamin Motz officiating. Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg is in charge of arrangements.
