Seeking Volunteers and Supplies for Back-to-School Backpack Event

Event Date: August 2, 2026 from 1:00PM - 4:00PM

Donations will be accepted now through the date of the event

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Hamburg and First UCC will be hosting a FREE Back‑to‑School Backpack Event for children in the Hamburg School District on Sunday, August 2nd from 1–4 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

We are collecting hygiene items and monetary donations to help purchase backpacks and school supplies that will be given to each child who attends — completely free of charge.

We are also seeking volunteers to help during the event with:

• Staffing tables and distribution stations

• Welcoming families at the registration table

• Directing foot traffic inside the church

• Event setup and cleanup

A volunteer sign‑up sheet is available in the Church Auditorium at the Events Table. Hygiene donations may be placed on the stage in the auditorium. Donations will be accepted through August 2nd.

Wish List:

• Shampoo and Conditioner

• Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, and Dental Floss

• Soap and body wash

• Deodorant

• Small packs of tissues

• Monetary Donations – to assist with purchasing backpacks and related school items  (any donations may be placed in a pew envelop marked Backpack Event)
